Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Anatolii Kutsevol held a meeting with representatives of the Swedish Energy Agency, during which the parties discussed the current needs of Ukraine’s energy sector in the context of preparations for the upcoming heating season, the protection of energy infrastructure, the development of distributed generation, and the further strengthening of Ukrainian-Swedish cooperation in the energy sector.

Anatolii Kutsevol expressed gratitude to Sweden for its consistent support of Ukraine and emphasized that energy remains one of the key areas of bilateral cooperation.

“Today, it is critically important for us not only to increase generating capacity but also to strengthen the physical protection of the power system, substations, and generation facilities. Ukraine requires rapid solutions that will enhance the resilience of the energy sector before the next winter season,” the Deputy Minister stated.

The parties also discussed Ukraine’s needs in the development of distributed generation, backup power supply systems, and cogeneration solutions, as well as opportunities for cooperation with Swedish manufacturers of energy equipment and technologies.

Representatives of the Swedish Energy Agency presented the Agency’s activities in Ukraine, including programmes supporting the entry of Swedish companies into the Ukrainian market, the development of research and innovation projects, and cooperation in the areas of energy security and European integration.

Special attention was devoted to the implementation of European energy legislation, the development of secondary legislation, the advancement of small hydropower generation, and mechanisms for balancing the power system.

Anatolii Kutsevol also emphasized the importance of strengthening institutional capacity in the implementation of state energy policy and studying Sweden’s experience in the operation of energy agencies, particularly in the context of Ukraine’s European integration process.

Representatives of the Swedish Energy Agency reaffirmed their readiness to continue expanding cooperation with Ukraine in the fields of energy security, innovation, and European integration, as well as to facilitate the involvement of Swedish technologies and companies in projects aimed at the recovery and development of Ukraine’s energy sector.
