Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine for European Integration Anatolii Kutsevol held a meeting with representative of the Italian Republic Davide La Cecilia, during which they discussed the situation in Ukraine’s energy sector and preparations for the 2026/2027 autumn-winter period.

Anatolii Kutsevol thanked the Italian side for its consistent support for Ukraine’s energy sector, including the provision of equipment and a contribution to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, which as of September 2026 amounts to approximately €23 million.

“Italy has consistently supported Ukraine’s energy sector — from supplying critically needed equipment to financing restoration through the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. We are working to further develop this cooperation through concrete projects that will help restore damaged infrastructure and strengthen the resilience of the energy system,” the Deputy Minister noted.

Key topics discussed at the meeting also included the needs of the energy sector, including the supply of critical equipment, the development of distributed generation, strengthening the physical protection of energy facilities, and grid modernisation. The parties also discussed the preparation by the Italian side of new assistance packages, including support for the restoration of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant’s confinement structure.

The meeting also addressed opportunities for more active engagement of Italian companies in projects aimed at restoring and modernising Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

The Deputy Minister also briefed the Italian side on the progress of reforms in Ukraine’s energy sector, which are currently being actively implemented.
