Thirty-five years ago, Ukraine restored its independence. Today, we are defending it with arms in our hands.
Despite all attempts by the enemy to destroy our statehood, we continue to build a strong, free and self-reliant Ukraine. Because we know what we are fighting for: our home, the people around us, and our land. For the simple things that have become the most precious: silence instead of air raid sirens, embraces instead of farewells, and light instead of darkness.
Despite all Russia’s attempts to destroy Ukraine’s energy system, it remains intact and continues to operate. In scorching heat and severe frost, following attacks and amid shelling, energy workers report for duty and restore damaged equipment.
I thank everyone who works for a free and independent Ukraine: our military, energy workers, rescuers, medical professionals, volunteers, entrepreneurs, teachers, railway workers, and all those who keep our country going through their daily work.
Together, we will prevail and rebuild our country.
Happy Independence Day of Ukraine!
