Minister of Energy of Ukraine Svitlana Grynchuk held a working meeting with the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Moldova, Dorin Junghietu, during his visit to Ukraine.
The agenda covered energy supply security, preparations for the autumn-winter period, emergency response mechanisms, cooperation on electricity imports and exports, the development of natural gas storage infrastructure, and participation in the formation of the Vertical Gas Corridor.
“Ukraine and Moldova are already demonstrating synchronized action within the framework of European energy integration. Our cooperation strengthens regional resilience and advances our path toward a single European energy system,” said Minister of Energy of Ukraine Svitlana Grynchuk.
Special attention was paid to the exchange of experience on aligning energy legislation with EU standards. In July, both countries successfully completed screening sessions with the European Commission. Additionally, since March 2022, the energy systems of Ukraine and Moldova have been operating synchronously with the continental European network (ENTSO-E). The discussion also covered decarbonization, the development of renewable energy, and new nuclear technologies.
Minister Svitlana Grynchuk expressed gratitude to her Moldovan counterpart for the offer of emergency assistance from Moldovan energy companies, particularly regarding the rapid deployment of technical teams for restoration work following attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
“Ukrainian specialists have consistently demonstrated their ability to rapidly restore energy facilities, even under the most extreme conditions. However, the support of partners and the solidarity from Moldova are a powerful reinforcement for our joint response to these challenges,” the Minister added.
Following the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to deepen their partnership in the energy sector and jointly advance toward full integration into the European energy community.
