24 September 2025, 12:38

The Lithuanian state-owned company AB Energijos skirstymo operatorius, the country’s distribution system operator, will transfer another batch of equipment to Ukraine for the needs of the energy sector. The relevant arrangements were made with the coordination of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Lithuania.

According to the donation agreement, Ukraine will receive more than 200 power transformers of various capacities. The transportation of the equipment will be carried out through the humanitarian aid and civil protection mechanism, which is funded and coordinated by the European Commission (ECHO). The humanitarian aid is expected to arrive before the start of the heating season.

“We thank Lithuania for this extraordinary support. The transformers are critically needed for the prompt restoration of distribution networks damaged by russian attacks, as well as for ensuring stable electricity supply to consumers under wartime conditions. The support of our partners is of vital importance to us, especially in the context of preparations for the new heating season,” said Minister of Energy of Ukraine Svitlana Grynchuk.

For rapid response to enemy strikes and the implementation of prompt repairs, it is necessary to maintain sufficient reserves of backup equipment. For this purpose, the Ministry of Energy has initiated the creation of a National Strategic Reserve of power transformers, with the involvement of assistance from international partners.

Since the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion, Ukraine has received 324 humanitarian shipments of energy equipment from Lithuania, with a total weight of 5,247 tons.

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine expresses its sincere gratitude to the Government and people of Lithuania for their consistent and significant support of Ukraine since the start of russia’s barbaric aggression. Lithuania’s substantial contribution to the restoration and strengthening of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure is of exceptional value to the Ukrainian state and its people.
