The Ministry of Energy has informed the IAEA about all the circumstances of russia’s overnight attack on the New Safe Confinement of Chornobyl NPP Unit 4 and urged the international community to intensify efforts to force russia to stop terrorist attacks on nuclear facilities.
As a result of a russian strike drone hitting the New Safe Confinement, significant damage has been inflicted. All respective services are working at the scene. At present, radiation levels have not changed, and radiation monitoring is being conducted continuously.
Given the severity of this situation, Ukraine emphasizes that russian attacks on critical energy infrastructure, especially nuclear facilities, are absolutely unacceptable. Any breach of protective barriers, power supply systems, or monitoring equipment could have serious consequences not only for Ukraine but for the entire region.
"Ukraine calls on the international community to urgently intensify efforts in response to this unprecedented act of russian nuclear terrorism. The attack on the Shelter Arch of Chornobyl NPP Unit 4 poses a threat to the entire continent," said the Minister of Energy German Galushchenko.
